Our love story isn’t one from a fairytale but for me it is perfect. I met Luke when I was 15, his Myspace account came up as someone I should know, he had a good taste in music and back then all I wanted was a lot of “friends”. We started talking quite a lot, realised we had quite a lot in common and things developed from there. He lived locally, was nearly 3 years older but as I was never looking for anything other than online friendship it didn’t matter. We met after a few months of talking online and I knew he was someone I never wanted out of my life.
(FYI I would NEVER condone meeting someone off the internet at 15! It was an incredibly STUPID thing for me to do, I was safe in the fact I took a close friend with me, we met somewhere public and I knew he was really him as another friend went to school with his brother and knew him from school….although I will say it again…NEVER meet someone off the internet!)
We were together for 6 years before we moved in to our own place and 8 years before we actually got married. We got engaged, August 2011, during a very special holiday visiting Germany. Luke had booked a trip around the fairytale castles of Bavaria (we loved going on coach trips!) where on the balcony of Neuschwanstein Luke proposed. Neuschwanstein Castle was the castle that Walt Disney based Cinderella’s castle on and was the most perfect location to be proposed to.
Our wedding day feels like a blurry haze when I look back on it.
In hindsight, we found out we were expecting Jason 2 weeks after we got married and life shifted from being newlyweds to new parents and having a baby took over. However it was everything I could have wished for…and then some.
I took every detail in to account, Luke was good at helping make the big decisions but actually left me to plan and carry out most of the wedding planning and I loved it! I love organising, making lists, comparing etc so planning our wedding was awesome. I’ve never been one for putting myself in the spotlight however with every Wedding Magazine I bought I got more and more excited. We got married at a farmhouse local to us; The Shropshire and I’ve got to say they were amazing from the minute we went to look around. Every thing we wanted was achieved and we didn’t have to worry about a thing on the day. The fantastic team took care of everything…including making sure we didn’t miss anything on the day. We had a red carpet on arrival (although I was already there getting ready) and as we didn’t want a formal sit down meal during the reception they were able to sort us a buffet for the day and the evening which was just what we wanted! Unfortunately all I remember eating was 1 jacket potato and a bit of cheese because I was so nervous (and again in hindsight…pregnancy was probably not helping!) and was quite happy getting through our free prosecco (again…didn’t know I was pregnant…don’t hate!!)
I have never doubted that I married the right man, 13 years later (nearly) and 2 children, a whole lot of memories and heartache along the road but I am still 100% certain I married the right man. I love that I met him so young and we’ve been able to grow up together and live our lives together.
