Baby Loss Awareness

What is baby loss awareness week?

Baby Loss Awareness Week is an annual event that takes place during the month of October (also Baby Loss Awareness Month). It is the collaborative effort of over 60 charities and group and offers the opportunity to remember all babies who have died during pregnancy and during or after birth. The aim is to promote awareness of baby loss and the issues that can and do affect bereaved families and their loved ones. It is a time where bereaved parents can speak out loud about their babies, their loss/es and help break the silence that surrounds a topic that happens more often than society would like to believe. Β

Why is it important?

It’s important to remember those babies who didn’t make it, regardless of the reasons why. To the parents these babies matter, their hopes and dreams for their baby begun when they found out there was life growing. The death of a baby isn’t the end of the pregnancy, it’s the end of all the hopes and dreams the parent had for that child.
Baby Loss Awareness Week includes all babies whether they were Miscarried, Stillborn, Neonatal Infant Loss or TFMR (termination for medical reasons).
