National Storytelling Week

During the week of 26th January to 2nd February it was National Storytelling Week. The Society for Storytelling’s campaign is to promote the oral tradition of storytelling and this is the 19th year of its annual storytelling week.

I became aware of this at work, our school mostly takes part in in-class assemblies where it is TA led but planned by one of our fantastic teachers. This week’s assemblies were mostly about National Storytelling Week, where children and staff were able to share their favourite stories with the rest of the class and it got me thinking.
I wanted to share some of Ellie’s favourite stories with you, so each night this week, before bedtime, we read one of Ellie’s choice stories.

Monday
Stick Man – Julia Donaldson
Tuesday
Baby Shark and the Colours of the Ocean
Wednesday
We’re Going On A Bear Hunt – Michael Rosen
Thursday
Where’s Tim’s Ted? – Ian Whybrow
Friday
Dustbin Dad – Peter Bently
